About the Directors

Professor Dr. Ulrich Kalinke is Executive Director of TWINCORE and, in his capacity as Professor for Translational Infection Research, Director of the Institute for Experimental Infection Research. Furthermore he is branch manager of the Translational Alliance in Lower Saxony (TRAIN) and spokesman of the TRAIN Akademy. The focus of his research activity includes the immune response of the body to virus infections. Ulrich Kalinke studied biology in Hanover and obtained a PhD from the German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg. Following a post-doc phase and a period spent as research assistant at the Universitätsspital Zurich, he spent four years researching at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Monterotondo, near Rome (Italy). In conclusion, he became head of the Immunology department at the Paul Ehrlich Institute in Langen.

Dr. Albrecht Goez has been Head of Administration at TWINCORE since January 2021. After studying chemistry at the TU Braunschweig, he completed a doctorate in theoretical chemistry at the University of Münster. He then decided to pursue a career in science management. He worked for four years at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin, first as an advisor to the Scientific Executive Board and most recently as Head of the Technology Transfer Department.
