2 Master Thesis Research Projects
The research group of Professor Ulrich Kalinke at TWINCORE, Institute for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research, is seeking highly motivated and qualified Master's students to join ongoing research projects in the field of single-cell RNA-Sequencing and infection immunology.
We are currently offering two research projects:
Project 1: Viral infections and Parkinson’s Disease
This project explores how viral infections may contribute to neuroinflammatory processes relevant to Parkinson’s disease. Using single-cell transcriptomics, students will analyze immune cell profiles and molecular pathways linked to neurodegeneration.
Project 2: T-cell responses to human cytomegalovirus (HCMV)
This project focuses on profiling of virus-specific T-cell responses during HCMV infection. By combining single-cell RNA sequencing with T-cell receptor (TCR) analysis, we aim to explore immune cell heterogeneity, activation status and clonal dynamics.

Starting date: September 2025
