Vânia Passos completed her Bachelor degree in Applied Biology in 2013 (University of Minho, Braga, Portugal). Then, in 2015 she received her Master degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics (University of Lisbon, Portugal), which included a one year project studying the Expression and Regulation of Human Endogenous Retroviruses in developing and mature T cells. In 2016 she started her doctoral studies in the field of Basic and Applied Biology enclosed in the GABBA PhD Program. Within the Program she received a scholarship from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) for four years, giving her the opportunity to perform her practical studies abroad. Since July 2017, she started her PhD project in Prof. Goffinets´ laboratory, investigating the cellular restriction factors SERINC5 and 90K during HIV-1 cell-to-cell transmission.
